May 6 Update - our response to COVID-19

Wednesday, May 6 Update 

Thank you for your ongoing support for ARK
during these difficult times.

In consideration of the Prime Minister’s announcement
that the State of Emergency will be extended beyond May 6,
ARK has decided that it is in the best interests of visitors,
volunteers and staff to extend our isolation period.

ARK will continue to provide shelter for the animals in our care.
Visits to the shelter will be restricted, but priority will be placed on potential adoptions.

Adoptions have not been suspended.
Staff may take longer than usual to respond,
but if you would like to adopt an animal from ARK, 
please complete the adoption questionnaire.

We ask your continued patience and understanding.

April 8 Update

In consideration of the Prime Minister’s announcement of a state of emergency,
many Tokyo ARK activities will be suspended until May 6. Please see details below.

We hope all our supporters stay well and look forward
to resuming our important work as soon as it is safe to do so.

Suspended: adoption fairs, other events.

To minimise contact and the likelihood of infection, all events,
including adoption fairs, will be cancelled.
We will also be unable to accept new foster families
or volunteers until further notice
and will postpone all adoption interviews.
We deeply regret the disappointment and inconvenience

this may cause and ask your understanding and patience.

Due to the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, Tokyo ARK events and foster family meetings have been canceled since the beginning of March. As this abnormal situation is showing signs of prolonged continuation,
we have decided to take the following measures.

[Cancellation of events and foster family meetings]
We are cancelling all events including regular foster parent meetings until further notice.
This decision, and any further updates, will be made based on the official government guidelines.

[Suspension of volunteer applications]
Due to the fact that there are no ARK events currently scheduled, we are calling a temporarily stop on new volunteer applications.

[Individual support for foster family interviews]
If you are interested in any of the animals currently housed at ARK, please send us a preliminary survey.

Although all foster family meetings have been canceled, it may be possible for us to offer an interview at the Tokyo ARK office.
*We will check your overseas travel history, current physical condition, etc. and may refuse interviews if we suspect any possible infection.
