Thanks to the courtesy of the gallery owner, ARK has got an opportunity again to hold a photo exhibition at Gallery 80 in Omotesando Hills, Tokyo. We look forward to your visit.

ARK founder Elizabeth Oliver will be in the gallery on September 11th.

Once again we are thrilled to present an exhibition of photos by Kyoko Harada, who has been taking pictures of ARK animals for the past few years; for our calendar, books and exhibitions. They say ” a picture is worth a thousand words” and certainly her pictures speak volumes, bringing to life the animals that are the main focus of our work at ARK. Many of these animals have come from a sad background but with lots of love and care, have transformed into affectionate and loving pets. A shelter, such as ARK, is a stepping stone to a brighter future, and we hope that all these animals will eventually find a forever home with a real family of their own.

Last year, 2011, was a hard time for us and for everyone in Japan, especially those affected directly by the terrible events of March 11th, the earthquake, the tsunami and the nuclear meltdown. Our staff prepared for the huge influx of animals we knew would need rescue and shelter, and when they came, did everything they could to comfort and care for them. Our thanks go out to them and also to the many people who supported us with generous donations at that time. Although the crisis has passed, and many animals have returned to their owners of found new homes, there are those still with us and we will take care of them for as long as it takes.
