Gentle Aki is clearly an “old soul” who can be quite shy around new people. When he first arrived at ARK, it took him a long time to feel safe and open up. However, with patience and encouragement, he’s gradually settled into his new surroundings and has learned to trust staff and frequent visitors. Now, once familiar with you, Aki will happily come over to say hello. One of the sweetest things he does, is lean his face close while you’re petting him, as if to say, “More, please!”. Aki loves going for walks, and when he knows it’s time to head out, he gets so excited that he’ll rush over full of excitement! Once he’s out and about though, he will occasionally look up with an expression that says, “Can we go home now?”—a charming little reminder that he likes to do things at his own pace. Aki will need a family who understands that trust takes time. If you’re willing to let him settle in at his own pace and build a bond with patience and love, you’ll discover a wonderfully sweet companion who’s well worth the wait.
