【Sep. 21】Remember Me Thursday

September 21, 2017

Animal-lovers and animal welfare organizations across the globe will unite on Thursday, September 21th, 2017 (the last Thursday of September, annually) with a Remember Me Thursday candle-lighting ceremony.
The candles, which will be lit across the world, will honour the millions of pets who lost their lives without the benefit of a loving home and shine a light on the millions of healthy pets who are still awaiting adoption.
The Remember Me Thursday global awareness campaign encourages individuals to light a candle this day (literally or virtually) and to opt to adopt, reducing the millions of orphan pets euthanized each year.

ARK will join this candle lighting ceremony to remember the thousands of pets killed every year in the Japanese hokensho. Please adopt a pet from a shelter not a pet shop.
If you can’t attend a ceremony, light a virtual candle on-line at Remember Me Thursday and share the message on Facebook, twitter and other social media channels.

Remember Me Thursday
By Mike Arms, President of Helen Woodward Animal Centre

Remember the day that we first met
You said you loved me and I was your pet
Remember how you played with me
And promised together we would always be

    Remember when you moved away
You decided we could no longer play
You dropped me off at a new strange place
You no longer wanted me to lick your face

Gentle hands took me from your sight
But no one was with me through the dark night
I remember I stayed in a small place for days
No one had time for my playful ways

I remember when they said it was my time to go
I remembered your face and wished it would show
I will leave this world and I want you to remember
To light a candle, this Thursday in September
