その節は丁寧なご対応をいただき、誠にありがとうございました。お迎えしてからしばらく経ち、最近の様子をご報告したくご連絡いたしました。

お迎えした子は「琥珀、愛称：ハク」と命名いたしました。最初は環境の変化からか、少し悪戯をすることもありましたが、今ではすっかり我が家にも慣れて落ち着いて過ごしています。毎日最低2〜3時間は部屋んぽを楽しんでおり、体重も2キロと順調に成長しております。

今日はグルーミングへ行ったのでその時の写真を添付させていただきます。最近は、お腹 のあたりを手で凄く優しくハムッとする動きで追いかける（触れるか触れないかの優しさです）追いかけっこをするのがブームのようです。ハクも一緒に遊ぶのが大好きで、「まてまて〜」と追いかけると「もっとやって！」と言うように、私の周りを5周ほどクルクル回って、頭を振りながらはしゃいでいます。お気に入りの場所も見つけて疲れるとそこへ行き、寝ながら手やマットをペロペロと舐めているのですが、その姿は、まるで赤ちゃんのようで家族一同その愛らしさに癒やされる毎日です。

琥珀という素敵な家族との縁を繋いでくださったこと、改めて心より感謝申し上げます。これからも琥珀が安心して楽しく過ごせるよう、大切に育ててまいります。

I am very grateful for all your help whenI was adopting Han Solo, now known asKohaku, or Haku for short. He has now been part of our family for a while, so I wanted to let you know how he is doing.Perhaps owing to the change in environment, he was sometimes a little mischievous at first, but now seems to have completely adjusted to his life with us. He enjoys 2-3 hours a day roaming free in the house and now weighs about 2kg. I’ve attached a photo of him at his grooming session. He’s also found a favorite spot where he goes to rest when he’s tired. Watching him lie there, sleepily licking his paws or the mat like a little baby, is so incredibly adorable that our whole family feels joy every single day. We are truly grateful to ARK for connecting us with such a wonderful family member as Kohaku. We will continue to look after him with all the love and care in the world so he can live a happy, peaceful life.

ワフーの里親です。嬉しいことがありました。先日少しお腹がゆるかったので病院に連れて行ったのですが、フィラリアが陰性になっていました。（お腹のゆるみは冷えでした）他は特に問題なく食欲もあるし、元気いっぱいに過ごしています。

最近は、散歩中、人とす れ違うとその人の側に寄ろうとしたり、人に慣れてきたのかなという感じです。散歩も我が家に来た当初は10分ほどの距離でしたが今は40分くらいゆっくり歩けるようになりました。先住犬ともとても仲良しで一つのベッドに2人で寝てたりします。

フィラリア陰性になったのが嬉しく近況報告もかねて、メールさせていただきました。今後ともよろしくお願いいたします。

We received some wonderful news! During a recent vet visit, Wahoo officially tested negative for heartworm. It is a huge milestone, and we couldn’t be happier for him. Even aside from that great news, Wahoo is thriving. He has transformed from a dog who could only manage a 10-minute walk to an explorer who enjoys 40-minute strolls! He’s becoming quite the social butterfly, too, curiously approaching people he meets on his walks. Perhaps most touching of all is his bond with his new canine sibling—the two of them are often found curled up together in a single bed.

ハモちゃん、エソちゃんが来て2か月が経ちまし た。

元気でごはんを食べて排斥も順調、かくれて、夜中は盛り上がっています。ハモちゃんは、夜中2時頃鳴き、フードのおかわリ、エアコン催促、エソちゃんは適当にガリガリやって、その後は静かに休んでいます。

私も遅くとも4時半起きですが、規則正しくできるので良いです。

マラッ カ君は、３時半過ぎに私の腕をポンポンと軽く推して、フードのおかわリ催促でしたが、今度はハモちゃんがベットのそばで鳴きます。まだ近くに寄ると逃げます。ブラシができるようになるまで待ちます。ハモちゃんは、吐き戻しがあります。でも、かまぼこブラザーズは元気です！

It’s been two months since Hamo and Eso joined our home! They are eating well and their litter box habits are perfect. While they still hide during the day, they truly come alive at night! At around 2:00 AM, Hamo starts meowing for a food refill or to have the AC adjusted, while Eso keeps himself busy working on the scratching posts before settling down. I am now truly an early riser and get up no later than 4:30. I used to be woken up at 3:30 AM by my other cat, Malacca, when he tapped my arm for food—now I have Hamo meowing by my bed! Even though they still run away when I get too close, I’m patiently waiting for the day they’ll let me brush them. Hamo has a bit of a sensitive stomach, but otherwise, the ‘Kamaboko Brothers’ are doing wonderfully well and keeping me on a very healthy early-morning routine.

お迎えからまだ1週間も経っていませんが、現在のブロッサムの様子を少しご報告させていただきます。

お迎えして最初の2〜3日は落ち着かず、「構ってほしい」と誰かにべったりで、お昼寝もなかなかできない様子でした。最近は家族との距離の取り方も少しずつ分かってきたようで、お気に入りの場所も見つけ、イビキをかきながら気持ちよさそうに眠る姿も見られるようになりました。夜はベビーサークルの中のクレートで寝ていますが、低いサークルでも飛び越えることなく、夜鳴きもせず朝までぐっすり眠ってくれています。

家の中でもいたずらはほとんどなく、落ち着いて過ごせており、こちらも安心しています。食べ物への興味がとても強く、キッチンに入りたがる様子があるため、現在ゲートの購入を検討しています。

お散歩では、口輪のおかげで今のところ拾い食いもなく、落ち着いて歩くことができています。拾い食いの心配がない場所では口輪も外して歩いています。他のワンコにはまだ警戒心を見せることもありまが、飼い主さんには甘えてナデナデしてもらう場面もあり、少しずつ経験を重ねていけたらと思っています。

まだ慣れていく途中ではありますが、ブロッサムが安心して穏やかに過ごせるよう、家族で見守りながら大切にしていきたいと思っています。また様子をご報告させていただきます。この度は本当にありがとうございました。

It hasn’t even been a week since Blossom joined our family, but she is fitting in beautifully. For the first few days, she was so eager for affection that she couldn’t even settle down for a nap. Now, she’s finding her own rhythm, discovering her favorite spots, and even snoring away comfortably. Blossom is a dream at night—she sleeps soundly in her crate without any fuss. Blossom is definitely a “foodie”. We’re working on those tendencies (we’re thinking about installing a kitchen gate soon!), but she is a perfect lady around the house. On walks, she is learning to navigate the world safely. We use a muzzle to make sure she doesn’t pick up and eat anything she shouldn’t. While she’s still a bit cautious around other dogs, she absolutely loves getting head scratches from new human friends, the other dogs’ owners. We are committed to moving at her pace and ensuring she feels safe and loved. Thank you, ARK, for this wonderful girl!”

Charlie / チャーリー

2010年2月に猫のチャーリーをお譲りいただいた石塚と申します。

現在、16歳になりました。まだ元気ではありますが、慢性腎臓病で動物病院で継続的な検査をしていて、数値が徐々に悪化しています。

妻と入籍して間もない時期にチャーリーを引き受けました。それがきっかけとなったのか、すぐに長女が我が家に来てくれて、その後ま もなく第二子である長男が生まれました。二人はもう中学生になりました。長女は中3になって疾患が見つかったのですが、チャーリーがベッドでいつも寄り添ってくれています。生まれたときから家族として一緒にいてくれたおかげで、子どもたちは優しい心を持って育ってくれています。

先日も高校受験から帰ってきた娘の労をねぎらってくれました。子供たちのほうがはるかに身体は大きいですが、自分のほうがお兄さんだという自覚があるようで見てて微笑ましいです。

もともとチャーリーはSebastianとFigaroという猫と3兄弟としてARKに引き取っていただきました。私の英語教師をしていただいた方がSebastianとFigaroを引き受け、その方の紹介でCharlieを我が家に迎えた経緯があります。

とりあえず、高齢猫が抱える健康問題はありますが、Charlieは元気です。美味しいものを食べて、家族と楽しく過ごして、ストレスなくこれからも過ごしてくれればなと思っています。ただ、もっと早く病状に気づいてあげられていればという気持ちもあり、それだけは心残りです。

とりとめない内容になりましたが、私たち家族にとって、かけがえのない存在に巡り合わせていただいたことの感謝を伝えたくご連絡をいたしました。

We adopted Charlie when we first got married; he has been the heart of our family ever since. Our first child, a daughter, was born not long after Charlie came, then our son after that. We think he probably arranged that for us! Of course the children grew bigger than him, but Charlie always knew he was the “first born”! Charlie, whom we adopted 16 years ago, was originally one of three brothers who came to ARK together. The others were named Se- bastian and Figaro. Charlie’s brothers went to my English teacher and he came to us. Now a dignified16-year-old gentleman, he is gracefully navigating the challenges of old age and kidney disease. He is, sadly, slow-ing down. He has grown up alongside our children, acting as a gentle guardian and ‘big brother’ throughout their school years and exams. Thank you, ARK, for the wonderful bond you helped create. We cherish every moment with our sweet Charlie. We know Charlie’s kidneys won’t last forever, but we hope we’ll have him for a long time yet. We want him to eat whatever he likes and stay free from stress. Our only regret is that we didn’t know about his illness sooner.
